A native screen does three jobs at once — privacy, habitat, and resilience. Choose evergreen, dense-branching species and plant them 1.5–2 m apart for a continuous wall of foliage. Tip-prune after flowering to thicken growth.
Native Screening Shrubs
Australian native shrubs make some of the best screening plants: they shrug off our climate, feed local birds, and form dense privacy with far less water than exotic hedges. These natives all earn their place as a living screen.
